Really like the depth that is created with the blurred birds in the background - and also that they fill the frame higher than the front in-focus birds. The angle the photograph was taken (as if the viewer is standing and looking straight back towards the birds) adds to the interest of the image and the 3D effect.

Denise, I do see the 3D effect here! Great example. Some of the birds wings actually appear to be popping out of the image. I like how the depth of the vertical layers is not in any order. I think that in most images, I usually see the foreground, closer objects close to the bottom of the image, midground in the vertical middle and then the depth goes to infinity toward the top of the image. Because of the position of the layer of sharp, in flight birds, the layers are not in "depth order" if that makes any sense what-so-ever. Anyway, I like it! :)

3D for sure. Making any good image in that situation was tough; you did quite well with this one and you made on to fit the theme.... Even though I looked at this one a few times I just noticed a white sign post for the colony in the right/middle :)

Beautiful image, Denise. I love the grasses which compliment the sky and the blacks in the birds. Is this more than one image layered on another? And I think I need new glasses because I can't see a sign anywhere:eek:

Cheryl, The sign intersects the sand/ocean junction 2/5 of the way from right to left. Look for the white vertical line. :)

Nice D. Might take a sliver off the bottom. Never noticed the sign. Great subjects for showing DOF.
