Very poor conditions for shooting this evening. Storm clouds and rain as well as thunder and lightning. Tried to get a few before the rain started. This least tern was doing it's mating behavior and offering the fish , but the mate wanted no part of it. Guess she had a headache.:confused::confused:
On a good note I got to meet Denise who was out shooting with Artie. Always nice to put a face on a name.

Joe, Nice pose and the fish is a bonus. I like the clean BG and beach. I might run some NR on the BG if it were mine. It was a pleasure to finally meet you and I wish we had a better shooting conditions tonight but looks like you did well w/ the lack of light.:)

    Default Little tern

Love the jaunty pose. Are you sure it's a common tern, looks like a little tern to me, sterna albifrons.

Definitely a Least and not am Common Tern.

Interesting composition and I think that the lighting (or lack thereof) adds a lot to it.

My first thought was that I would have preferred this as a horizontal but the longer I look at it the more I like and agree with the vertical approach.

Some shadows / highlights or selective work on the blacks and the eye are needed to open that face up.

Also...I might clean up with darker OOF blotches (I realize that they are natural) to the right of the subject.

Interesting crop and pose and yes to Least Tern. The image has a slight green cast on my monitor and I would try to lighten the eye a bit.
