Been in a little bit of a photographic slump of late. Am trying to expand my way of looking at things a bit, here's a try that holds appeal to me, maybe not you? Thank you for looking and for your comments.

I like this crop a lot. Angle and light work, too. If it were mine, I might lighten the part of the chest that is not sunlit.

Axel, I left it shadowed for a bit of 3-D feeling, no? Doesn't work?

I think it works as presented, I would just lighten it a tad.

Very different , and well done. Love the feel it gives and the shadow on the chest works as presented.

I love the dreamy feel and don't have a problem with the shadowed area. The bird is very well placed, close to a corner in a big negative space. Glad you are experimenting. That should take you out of the slump, and help you find yourself :)

    Hi Grace,
I think this has an ethereal feel/mode. It almost appears as if the term is standing on a cloud. Keeping the bird small in frame presents well in my opinion and adds to the mode. I like the gradual transition from the mist to the sky. To chime in on the shadow discussion, I would keep it but, it might be worth seeing how lightening it a little would affect the presentation (however, I do think it is very nice as presented). Well seen and captured.

Hi Grace Love the overall feel and did not even look at the darker area, doesn't bother me much and could be adding to the overall feel !!

Not sure why but keep wanting to take just a little of the bottom? Big Congrats on this image, different and works !!!

Typically I'm not a huge fan of OOF foregrounds but this one actually presents great :)

Agree with fabs that it is a sort of dreamy presentation.

The only thing I wish for were a little bit more positive exposure to brighten up the blacks in the face a bit.

Grace.....beautiful. I really liked the crop....the space adds so much to this. Perfect execution of 'bird small in frame' concept here. Lots to learn and very inspiring.

Love it, has a kind of dreamy feel to it. IMO a bit of a higher angle could have helped bring the feet into view. This would probably have resulted in a very thin strip of in-focus sand but this might have also looked nice. Anyways, an excellent capture, certainly a bit different.
