A Black-crowned Night heron that I used Fract. Lines and then a Nik bi-color filter.

    Thanks for looking. C&C appreciated:)

Cheryl, I love the environment that is captured along w/ the BCNH. The pose and the head angle are nice. Great job w/ the filter.

I really like the filter effects on this, but to me the depth of the environment really makes the shot. it has an almost 3D look to it. very impressive

Dave and Denise, thanks so much for your comments. Dave, I'm glad you think it has a 3D quality because I haven't figured out how to do that for this week's theme:)

I think the background is fantastic! I just think the night-heron needs more detail; looks a tad washed out. Perhaps you could treat it a bit differently than the background? Regards~Bill

Cheryl, I love the treatment on the background and that the heron really stands out from the background because of the difference in tone. I also see the 3D element that has been mentioned. I actually noticed it before even reading the comment.

3D for sure and a loverly image. The setting is sweet and interesting and the FRACT treatment really worked with it. The only thing that bugs me is the moss hitting the head....

Artie, I thought the moss might bug you:) I should have taken it out so here it is without and I tried to burn in a little more detail per William's suggestion. Hopefully, it's better now. Thanks everyone for commenting. I've enjoyed watching this night heron and his mate as they've been building a nest back in the woods on Lake Wauberg at Payne's Prairie.

Lovely feel Cheryl, I am going to add my .02 and suggest toning down the branches at the bottom to focus more attention on the heron. Might take away from the 3D feeling. Just a thought:)

Cheryl, really lovely illustrated look and dimensionality! The repost is better and I agree with Jackie on toning down the FG elements just a tad. Very nice!
