Just got back from NANPA and was so impressed with one of the African presentations that I decided to go back through my African files. This was taken In Kenya in the Masai Mara. We actually were able to observe this couple for about twenty minutes from the courting to the mating.

You did well with the off-angled light as the bird was angling towards you. The line of the base of the copse is a bit distracting.

    Which NANPA program???

Many thanks Artie for your comments. I always appreciate them and learn much from you. . The speaker was Nick Nichols with National Geographic. Many of his images were taken in the Masai Mara and Samburo and he has a great interest in the conservation of the elephants in Chad as well as many other endangered species.

Great light, habitat and the pose and eye contact put it over the top. Thanks for sharing.

YAW and thanks Judy. I was at Nick's show and it was amazing, but since most of it was either camera traps or video I did not think of it as traditional nature "photography."

Excellent image, Judy! I like the light, and the small aperture used made for a very shap image.

Well done here Judy and thanks for making me see one of our birds in better light. These "girls" are very drab for us and we'd easily drive past them and not give them the attention they are due.

Beautiful lighting Judy. Always nice to retrieve something from the past that didn't make first selection.

    Hi Judy,
Had to respond because it catches the eye so much. Great light on this one. I only got it on an overcast day. Very beautiful indeed,
    Roman
