Default Wireless Shutter Release for Canon

Does anyone use a wireless remote shutter release for a Canon (50D & 5DMKII) - what brand would you recommend?

I use a Quantum Radio Slave 4i but there are a lot of others available.

    Steve--

We got the Strobies remotes in about a month ago, and they are radio remotes, which means they do not have to be "line of sight" like infrared remotes. They come with connectors for all Canon or Nikon models, which is nice, as many cameras in the same brand line require different interface cables.

Here is a link: Strobies Delta

By all means Pocketwizards are at the top of the line, but the price difference is quite a bit.

Depends on how you are going to use the camera, and in what environment.

Hi Chris, will the above activate the video function in the Canon 5D Mark 2 or 7D ?

I believe that the remotes are shutter only--they replicate what the shutter button will do.

I took a chance on a Opteka branded model found on Ebay a couple years ago for my MKIII. FWIW it has worked flawlessly up to appx. 300' away when I have shot eagle nests.

Have used of of these on my Canon 1D 3 & 4 with no issues:

low cost and very effective to 100'.
