Default Rosette Spoonbills at St. Augustine Alligator Farm

As some of you may know, for the first time we have Rosette Spoonbills nesting at the Alligator Farm. No photos of babies yet but just to let folk know time status if they want to plan a visit to see these birds.

There are 4 nests. Two are in the back and not visible to us. The park's personal have verified there are chicks in one nest. The other two nests are in good position. For those familiar with the park, the first nest is in the mulberry tree which has a lot of snowy egrets and very close to the corner with the scope. Usually I consider this a morning position but might be good in the late afternoon too. It is very close to the boardwalk although a bit of vegetation is around it. Almost eye level. It should have chicks by Thursday. The second nest is up a bit highter and a little further back but no vegetation and still very close. It is on the right just after you turn onto the boardwalk section (after the theater) which goes to the rookery. The chicks in this nest are supposed to hatch by Saturday. It is an afternoon lighting situation.

There are still a number of non-nesting rosettes hanging and flying around.

Weather right now seems to be possible afternoon noon showers.
