    Default Midland Painted Turtle

Usually it seems these turtles at my local shooting grounds jump in the water as soon as I spot them. I found this guy and slowly approached him. He was very cooperative and let me take several pictures. Let me know what you think. All comments are welcome.

Very nice, the eye contact is a bonus and I really like the color of the water and the almost abstract reflection.
You have such wonderful turtles in America, pity you don't see more photos of them.

What a beautiful creature, great colours and light,

Can you explain how the "lowest" refelections occured?

Good looking turtle, like all that red around the borders and the slight head turn makes it personal !!

Ken I think the other reflection is form a small wave, if you look at the water its still but wavy !!

....Ignacio want more turtles ... you don't know what your asking for :D:) vale !!!

Thanks for all of the comments. To get the reflection in the first place I had to get as low to the ground as possible. While I was unable to lay on the ground due to the foliage, none the legs on my tripod were extended. So basically I was sitting on the ground. The water was almost still except for very small and slow waves. That is why there is a double reflection in the water. Since the turtle was very cooperative I took approximately 50 pictures in hopes that I would get a reflection and head angle that I really liked.

    Rodney,

Thanks for the explanation, I am not used to taking pictures with such good light and clear water:)
