Joel, nice looking bird, although I would have cropped it much tighter. Also seems to have a color cast. Was this shot early morning or late day? I just did it quickly with a crop and levels adjustment. What do you think?

    Richard,

I like the repost, here were my thoughts...

This was late afternoon along a lake shore in Texas, the overall yellow/gold color was how it really looked with the setting sun reflecting off the water. I couldn't get closer (water too shallow) so I avoided the large crop to keep from losing detail and to prevent enhancing noise plus I thought the habitat was interesting.

Like the shot, I would crop it a bit but not as much Richard. If there is noise it can be removed easily but the image looks good to me.

Like this a lot with the habitat! I'm always on the lookout for one or two in our flocks of blackbirds. So far no luck.

I like the original with more habitat also !! If anything would have placed the bird just a little closer to the corner (UL) but fine as presented Find these type images difficult to make and you got a good one !!!

Richard ... whats up with the re post .. noticed the time .. have you had your coffee :D:D:)

My preference is for the first one. I really like the environmental aspect of it.

Perhaps a bit more contrast to make it pop a bit.

Very nice pose and eye contact.

Hi Joel, good lighting(due to warm light late in the day)sharp along with good angle on the bird. I feel there is a bit too much habitat(which diminishes the strength of the bird) but wouldn't crop it to the extent of the repost...
