Taken from atop a cliff on South Plaza Island, Galapagos a few weeks ago. Almost full-frame (needed to straighten horizon a tad). Mid-afternoon light was harsh, so some s/h tweaking was needed; otherwise not much PP. The red legs and eyering make these very photogenic birds. Is the intersecting horizon line distracting? I have another frame without it, but liked the wing position of this one slightly better. C&C encouraged and appreciated.

Nice shot of a great bird Bill! Good lighting on the underwings. You may want to level the horizon out a tiny bit.

    Bill,

Beautiful baby love the species and red legs - your self critique is spot-on - TFS.

I do like the wing pose as well and don't mind the horizon line. Good light on the eye and such a beautiful bird too; I only wished the underside of the wings were not so dark (per time of day).

These are cool-looking birds. I like the exposure control and sharpness and wish for more head turn toward you.

A great shot of a stunning Gull. I would brighten it up a bit.

Bill, this is sharp, well exposed, and that red eye ring really stands out. The intersecting horizon line isnt a big deal. Well captured.

Good exposure and sharpness! I like the "drifting" pose. I agree the legs and eyering make this an attractive subject. I wish the shadow on the body wasn't there (hard to avoid with this combination of wing position and sun angle). HA is not ideal. I see what you are concerned about with the horizon line...although not too critical, it does skim rather close to the gull's body.

Thank you all for the helpful comments. Can't do much about the light or ha, but I'll try to lighten up the master file - thanks Alan.
