Where do I start, Iceland is a jewel..
When my 2 daughters went there in 2008, they came back with stories of the beautiful landscapes, people and most of all commented on the number of birds. With the high value of the Canadian dollar and low Kronar we just had to go. We decided to go in May, to be there during late migration, weather was in the mid to high teens.
I came back with over 1500 images without really even trying, this is a bird photographers paradise. Birds are out in the open and quite approachable. BEST OF ALL NO BITING BUGS.
Equipment: 12-24mm, 100mm macro (puffin image in link, taken with it), 70-200mm, 300mm
Then the volcano happened and I just had to go see it. We arrived at 6:30am, were told we were the last plane in for that day. We got the car rental and off we went to Eyjafjallajekull glacier. This image was taken with a small point an shoot, with a little CS4 work added in. We're not that far, from the volcano, we tried walking up but ash made it to tough, to see or breath, out of the path of the ash cloud (about 3500 ft high) though, it was the smell, wow.
