    F7.1, 1/2500, ISO 1000 (I forgot to reduce ISO :o)

    Nice exposure control; reds and blacks look good. Good sharpness too. I wish the head was angled slightly towards us, and I think the image could use a bit more canvas on the right. It appears that you have blurred the grass, and the blur seems to have included the bird in a couple of places.

    nice inclusion of environment and attractive bird with good exposure, agree with Doug, some areas of the bird are lacking in detail, maybe too much NR?

    One bird bird I would love to photograph in Africa next year , beautiful image and I think Doug said it for me

    Doug,

    I did apply a blur to what I hoped was the BG, I cannot see any on the bird itself, could yoo let me know where it is. The original is only really sharp on the head and lacks detail and sharpness on the dody.

    I tried NR but it was even worse, I really think that the problem was selecting the wrong ISO.

    Hi Ken. I've circled the troublesome areas in blue. It's hard to avoid the blur bleeding onto finer feathers. Also I like to keep the grass sharp in the plane of focus; otherwise the blur looks somewhat artificial.
