    Default Great Crested Flycatcher

Had a glorious morning in the blind. Found an island of trees at the edge of one of our pastures that is loaded with birds. Today was the first time I have ever seen one of these out in the open. As it is...I was not there for this bird, but for a Gray Catbird. I have spent 2 days observing a pair of them perching on this sapling or a few others. Must be a favored perch by many species as just about every bird that came through there spent some time on it. I am sure it helps that this little tree is right on the edge of a pathway that leads to the lake.

    D300s, 600VR, 1.4tc, f/8, ISO 400, 1/800th (full frame)

As always C&C welcomed and encouraged.

Edit note: I did tone down some of the yellowish/green colored leaves in the bg as they were distracting, I thought. I also wish I would have panned every so slightly to the left to have the bird no so centered!

Congratulations on this fantastic capture, Jason.
Love the background and the perch, and the handsome bird, of course, is very well captured.
Do you have some more room on the left?
I'm far from a PS expert, but wonder if it would be possible to remove the twig that crossing the tail.

This is a full frame shot, so now room anywhere. I could add some canvas and do some PS work, but not inclinded to do so at this time, perhaps later though. The twig would be a easy clone job...just kind of liked the look as it was.

May fool around with this and do both and see how it looks, and thanks for the kind words.

Excellent Jason. It is very sharp and perfectly exposed. I agree with Sidharth's comments about the twig crossing the tail.
