taken on wednesday morning aboard the hooptie deux with james shadle. i think there were five jrs in the area we were in. i think they are just learning how to shadow fish. and thanks to james for letting me borrow the lens. my wife's not gonna be happy when she sees the bill when i by my own!!!

D300, 300-800 at 650mm, f/5.6, 1/800s, ISO 800, manual exp. i did not run any noise reduction here. do you see any? the exposure was pushed as far right as i could go without blowing highlights.

thanks for looking. comments and critiques much appreciated.

Not sure of the birds natural colours so can't really comment on that though the WB does look a little warm.
Love the pose captured and the comp. looks perfect to me. Nice angle and exposure looks spot on. Nice work:)

Nice warm light on this juvi Harold. Really tough shooting out there as the light changes so quickly after sunrise. Great exposure and comp....and I love when the Reddish Egrets get into their canopy hunting pose. Great experience being out their with James. Nice capture

HEY Harold - you are not a SIGMONSTER convert are you??
once you have used one - YOU cant live without it!!
Love this - The BG colours compliment the bird so well - Love the pose and the clear sharp eye.
    IMHO - this rocks.

Lovely warm light, lots of feather details, interesting pose, and beautiful background. Seem like you had a good time :D

Forgot to mentioned that I didn't notice any noise too.

How did you determine warmth, white balance?
Like it also for all of above reasons.

    Lovely soft light.

An interesting pose which i had nor seen nor heard about before.

I like the nice details in the soft light as well as the composition.

    Very nicely done.
