Kind of like cheating; this osprey nest is on a piling at the Jamestow (VA) ferry dock. When your on the boat you are right on top of the nest. Sony A700, 70-400G @400mm, f5.6, 1/250, iso400, slight crop & sharpening.

that's not cheating!! that's knowing where the good stuff is!! as is, i think i might add a little canvas to the bottom.....for the virtual feet. whites look good. i might lighten the eye and give the image a contrast boost?

this is a nice find, pete!! i really like the dual tone bg. kinda different than what we have been seeing lately!!

Hi Peter Harold nailed the suggestions !!! Contrast is the main thing and if you wan to get fancy select the whites make a new layer and multiply !! Works well when there is detail like in your image !!

    Hi Peter,
Like the close-up shot, Osp on nest, ruffled feathers and background. Very nice.

Hi Peter. Agree that Harold touched the main points. I would add some room to the rear also...good one..

Hi Peter. Nice capture of my friend the Jamestown osprey -- I was so surprised back in April when the boat pulled into the slip and he and his mate were right there next to me. You've caught him well, with a nice pose and good bg, and good advice given from Harold.
