I posted a similar photograph a few weeks ago in ETL. I been thinking about the question of "noise" in backgrounds in this type of image, which could be dealt with. However, this grainy effect works much better than a smooth background IMO. comments and critique welcomed. regards~Bill

I like the grainy effect on the background, really adds something to the overall tone of the image. I also like the way the beak is placed diagonally across the image. A very classy looking photograph.
Beautiful Bill! I love the color tones and the composition. The eye looks great also. The grainy look does work very well here. I think because of the tone on tone look to the image-it gives a bit of separation.
Sometimes noise can be a killer but here it works well....killer details, to bad about the high angle..but lovely image ....TFS

Appreciate the feedback-especially about the background! Good point about the viewing angle Paul, and indeed I always try to get as low as possible. In this case I was knee deep in the mud (got wading boots so its not that bad) and in a bunch of mud flat vegetation which would have obstructed the view if I got lower. (background here was the mudflat, but I was crouching in the vegetation). Thanks guys!! regards~Bill
