    Default Classic Pileated

    Here's a classic shot of a Pileated Woodpecker. Although plain-vanilla tight portrait shots aren't my favourite, I liked the subtle lighting on this one.

    Taken at the Pinery Provincial Park, Ontario.



    Nikon D3, 500VR+TC17EII hand held
    1/250s f/6.7 at 850.0mm iso640 no flash

    Gary, I'm not sure if you intended this or not but it has a green cast to the image. I took the liberty of removing the cast, hope you don't mind. I didn't do any other changes.

    Roy, thanks very much for taking the time to point that out -- I didn't even notice! I'll have to go back an check the WB...it was set for sunshine but the shot was taken in the shade -- that could be part of the problem.

    Had to play with the WB a bit...but I think this looks better...
