Iceland was a great place to visit for its diverse birds, I had never seen a Red-Necked Phalarope in breeding plumage, many of these birds were either flying through of on territory. It was fun to spend an hour with these birds. They were easily approached showing no fear of me at all, one actually walk up and under my feet.
This image is almost full frame.
    Thanks for looking

Nice looking bird, Paul. Exposure and pose look good. The OOF grass LLC is a little distracting but matches the vegetation we see on the right. It may be possible to tone down the grass a little and a slight increase in contrast may be worth a try.

I liked the re-post more. Well exposed with a nice inclusion of the reflection thats not too distorted. I find the water too bright giving a slightly hazy feel to the image. I tried downloading it and darkening the curves a little and it looks good. Unfortunately I'm unable to upload that version coz of some connection issues at my end. Do try it if possible.

I am about to travel to Iceland for 8 days. I noticed your comment about the closeness of the birds. I have been planning to carry my 500mm lens, which I love, but which is quite large and heavy. Do you think it would be worthwhile for me to have the 500, or is 300 all I need?
