these guys are awesome! and james shadle can take you really close to their roost. pretty much full frame, just a slight crop off the right for composition and some contrast adjustments all done with capture nx2.

D300, 300 f/4 at f/6.3, 1/2000s, ISO 500, manual exp. i was shooting the females (white face) 1 stop less than the males which are all dark in order to preserve the whites, which is why there are still some dark shadows.

thanks for looking. comments and critiques much appreciated.

Hi Harold, You did a good job on this. Nice light and positioning within the frame. Good detail in the darks and I'm assuming there is not much detail in the whites but a pleasing color. Well handled!

Hi Harold, nice image of a difficult bird to photograph IMO. Agree with Dave on the whites, but it must be really tough to get everything in check with these guys.

I've tried a few times to get a decent image of these, but have been unsuccessful so far. Practice, practice. TFS.

very nice warm light and great flight pose, good detail in the blacks, exposure with these birds is really challenging do have to push the whites to the limit.

    Good looking bif Harold.
I particularly like how there are no overlapping elements especially the nice clear view of head.

Hi Harold Glad you had a good time at the frigate place !! Agree with comments !! Sure wish you could have captured the bird with both wings fully open !!
