    Default Flamingo Flight

I am finishing my trip to the South of Mexico in a bad way. Our car got stollen with some of my photo gear inside, including my tripod and tripod head. Luckelly my camera and lenses were with me.
This photo of for the memory of my equipment :-). My good friend always says in these situations: "Look at it as a chance to upgrade."
I am still on my laptop, so I don't know if the PP is ok or not. I have some blown pixels, but it is due to the sRGB format. I downloaded Viveza plugin and tried the demo on this photo. Let me know what you think.

Sorry to hear about your incident. This seems to happen more and more. I hope you have good insurance?

Re the image great wing position and good handling of the high key BG. I do wish the head were turned a bit more toward us. but I guess the flamingo wasn't taking much direction from you.

I wish there was some affordable good insurance in Mexico for photo gear. No, I will have to spend money when I replace the equipment. Car is covered though and that part will be ok.

    Thank you for commenting, Ed.

I'm sorry to hear that they stole your car and gear, what a headache!

The image looks very good, I like the pose, sharpness and light. It looks as if Viveza is working well for you. The only thing I'm wondering is whether the eye is closed since I can't see the pupil.

A bittersweet image, considering your recent incident. I have insurance, but since I shoot Nikon I would be looking at a one year waiting list to replace my lens were it lost..... glad your REALLY important items were safe.

I've not had a chance to photograph these birds (someday soon, I hope), but I think you've done wonderfully. Thanks for sharing, and may the remaining days of your trip be as fruitful, photograhically speaking.

Yeah, Axel, Viveza is great, at least trying it on a few pictures it worked well.

Eye is open. Here is a magnified shot from the original RAW file.

Lorant, bad news on your car and gear. Hope you are able to replace both soon enough. Lovely flying posture with the full wingspread, and just love the colours of the flamingo.

Looks very good Lorant, excellent wing positions and details, too bad about stolen car and grear.

Man I hate hearing about stories like that (I do like your slipped-in "adios" next to your tripod listing though:D)

Awesome image...it would be worth it to darken the pupil and the darker outlines around the iris.

Great flight image, beautifully sharp and composed. Wonderful wing position. Exposure looks great on my screen. Agree that a darkened pupil might help, but otherwise lovely. Too bad about the tripod and head.

Hi Lorant - I am really sorry to hear about your gear and car - but surely your car insurance provides cover for contents - even limited contents???
I like your shot very much, perhaps consider toning down the head region just a little and put a little black into the pupil.??

Thanks for the explanation. I agree with Daniel and would darken the pupil to make it more visible.

    Great image Lorant!

The soft colors and contrast are fantastic.

Sorry to hear about the gear, you were lucky considering where you are!

Your close crop of the eye explains my questions elsewhere. Thanks brother. Fine image indeed, well executed. :)
