I took this image of this male last Saturday whilst looking for a similar sized shorebird that is listed as endangered in NSW.

    Canon 400, 300f4 +1.4tc, ISO200, f7.1, 1/2000, Ev mode, Av metering. Tripod
PP: Cropped approx 40%, slight SH, levels and sat adjust. USM. NR on bg.

A beauty Mark. I really like the nice simple composition and interaction with the bird.
    Great colour combo.
As a suggestion I might crop a bit from bottom and the left. I think picture quality is still there.
I am not sure if it is something in bg on the beach or a remnant from pp's just above bird and to right a bit.

    Very nice photo.

Thanks Dave. I didn't notice those darker marks until you mentioned it. I think they are artifacts in the sand in the bg. I'll do a repost when I get home tonight.

Hi Mark - like this a lot - exposure looks good - good ha and eye contact and background and foreground both work together to put the emphasis on the subject.
    A little CW rotation?
    Good show :)

Thanks for the tips Dave and Lance.

Repost with tighter crop, slight CWR, cloned the embellishments in the bg.

Tight crop works really well here mate. Well done. Nice little bird. Shame you didn't get the Hoodies... :( I heard they had a few down that way, it was on Birdline I am pretty sure.

Hi Mark, Nice lighting, subject, backround and low angle. I like the crop which accentuates the subject. I could even crop this more into a pano but also like it as is...

I think this is very beautiful and was going to suggest Mark's crop. Clean surroundings and strong comp, with good EXP and presentation.

What a sweet bird! Well captured with lovely colors, exposure, comp. Repost nails it, IMHO. Difficult light handled nicely.
