    Default Omar the King Cobra

Amidst all the beautiful wild cat and other images on this forum, I'll offer this one.

Omar is Captive, living happily with my licensed herpetologist friend. All 21 feet of him. He is about 14 years old, and is really quite beautiful and friendly, and with very soft, velvety skin.

The BG is a darkened and cleaned up wall behind him, and the glint of his large heat lamp is evident on the left side.

Awesome snake! very "in your face" pose. The bg, sharpness and exp are good, as is the head angle. No fangs?

Sandy, nice to see the original but I do like way you produced it in the OOTB forum. I feel sad if the fangs have been removed, even if it is safety issue, I'm not sure how I feel about it on an animal welfare issue. But, what do I know, I don't keep snakes. 21ft is a long snake.

The fangs in cobras and many other snakes fold up into the top of the mouth when not needed.
    They are not removed.
You can see the tip of a fang directly above the base of the tongue, partially folded back.

Sandy - definitely a gorgeous shot. I really like the pose and comp. Not an animal I'd like to meet in the wild.

Al, I guess he liked me enough not to be threatened.

YOU might get a better shot of the fangs - want to try? :D:D

Hi Sandy, love this original!! Just a super capture of a subject dear to my heart. And yes, you would not see the fangs unless he was about to use them...

Beautiful snake and strong composition with the diagonal emitting from a corner up to the turned head. Good control of light and shadow on the cobra. DOF just right. Could not be any better. Well done.

All the superlatives above bear repeating, but I will just say DITTO. Knowing a bit about snakes i did see the retracted fangs. Yes, you must be a real snake charmer to have this beauty trust you so much.

Really impressive. The slightly low POV emphasizes the great size of the snake. You can almost feel that glossy skin.

Hey Sandy, this is a realy beaty. Love the light, details and the curved composition. The slight tongue flick at the end really finishes it off for me. Great shot!
