I was a bit close and after leveling the shot, lost a bit of the tail. Comments welcome.

Hi Jay. Nice pose, and you have good separation of the bird from the background. :)

I think your sharpest area is the tail feathers, since the head angle is going away from you. That makes the beak a bit soft. On my laptop monitor it also looks as if the whites on the neck might lack detail.

Jay, Nice capture. It looks a tad dark on my monitor, but there is nice detail in the whites. Sharp eye and nice BG although the HA is looking away just a bit. It's a shame you clipped the tail feathers. Maybe you can add some canvas and clone back in the feathers. Keep 'em coming......

    Richard,

    Thanks.....I'll give a clone a try.
I've brightened it up since I'm having a problem uploading the original from LR.

    Julie,

Thanks, yes the beak is a bit soft. Good catch, I missed it.

Love the low angle captured and good details in white. Also like how the foot is just touching the water, very nice. As mentioned, the head is a bit turning away. Each re-post are looking better and better. The original seem a bit dark, but you probably tried to save the white on the neck, what was the original histogram look like?

It must have been pretty tough light for a white and black bird. From the camera settings it might have been too bright. Looking forward to others comments on this.

Other than the clipped tail and slightly off ha, I really like the composition. Really good eye on that and I think so close to a killer image. Good for you.

Hi Jay Love the overall mood of the image Sure wish you could have had a little more room and focus on the head area !! Great raised food and bg !! Head angle wise I'm fine since the bird is going after something !!! Excellent !!!

    Hi Alfred,

    Thanks for your kind words.

I was flat on my stomach ...............he walked right in front and there was no way no retreat with the big lens.

Hi Jay...I like the image alot...It has an artistic feel to it! You might consider cloning out the bright light and green grass on the lower left. Another thing to consider would be to blend the bright spot in the upper left background with a brush set to 20% opacity with a color sampled closeby..IMHO

    Bob,

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, on the upper left light..I like the BG but the spot is lighter than the rest.
The lower left is part of the reflection of the bird, I thought about it, but was unsure on whether to fool with it.
    Will give it a try.

    Jay
