Very first post, and wanted to do it on the critique forum....

Everglades National Park, on the road to Pahayokee overlook.

Nice environmental shot. The bird is too centered for my taste, but I wouldn't want to lose the tree trunk.

I like it, the bird is turned enough toward you. The only thing I would have liked better is if you had gotten down slightly lower to see the bird and its branch higher above the landscape.

I like the pose of the bird and the fact that the background behind the bird is not cluttered. The photo does a good job of showing the environment with the subject. As already stated the biggest problem for me is that the bird is too centered. I agree with connie that it would have been nice if the branch were higher above the landscape.

    Andy:

A big welcome to BPN. A great place to learn and grow as a bird photographer.
Good points by Jeff and Connie. The framing could be easily changed by cropping in from the left, fairly close to but not touching the trunk of the tree there.
The bird is well exposed with whites in the mid 230s, but I find the rest of the image just a bit dark for my taste.

The heavy clouds add some real interest to the sky.

Thanks for sharing. Look forward to more.

    Cheers

    Randy
