    I photographed this heron last month about 1/2 hour before sunset. Being a juvenile, he let me creep up relatively close to him. I took my time, and he certainly didn't seem in a hurry.

    Luckily I was paying attention to my background, and as a result, made a correction in the field. My tripod legs were lower than normal, as I had been photographing snowys at water level. This guy was perched atop a short fence, so my lens angled up slightly, giving me a sliver of sky above the green bank behind him. I readjusted the height of my rig, and saved myself a lot of photoshop work!

    I like the profile shot here, looks nice and sharp. I might run a little NR on the background. Great colors as well

    It is so much better when we ca adjust in the field rather than capturing carelessly relying on Photoshop to do our job.

    Agree about the NR on the BG but everything else is wonderful! I love the catchlight and the "deep in thought" look on his face.
