Another one from the dark side... Cropped a bit from the bottom, NR, sharpened, color tweaks. Not much really. :)

I think this works as part of the theme better than some of the others. I think some of us (me mainly ) are a little confused about the chiaroscuro effect as some of the images look like they are just dark, rather than 'light and dark' to give depth. Personally, I think the weekly theme needs to run another week just to allow us all to come to terms with it because it is very interesting. :D

BTW, I really like the light on the bird, the texture and colour on the rhs wing and the double light highlights on the lhs wing.

You're becoming a master at this, Kerry. I love the lines of the wings that are highlighted and the lighting on the head and beak.

I'm still trying to get a handle on the chiaroscuro effect, and I think you've made some good points, Hilary.

Kerry, This is another great example - best yet imo. I'm really glad you are posting the real thing. It gives us an opportunity to see what we should be emulating. I agree with Hilary's comments. This is a really challenging week that has been quite a learning experience.

Very nice image and application, Kerry.

I echo the others. One of the most "interesting" weeks to try to do right. Some will and some wont ... but we try anyway! ;)

Beautiful work Kerry, I think you have mastered it. Maybe we could run another Chiaroscuro weekly theme week. Continuing this week would create a back up and some confusion-BUT it is a great idea to revisit this theme and I will post it on the board. This will give everyone a chance to try some in-camera work on this theme and perfect the lighting in photoshop or other filters.

Kerry, this is perfection and something to strive for. I'm all for another week - this has been so interesting and the fact that every image is different and doesn't lend itself to the same ps work makes it even more so. Thanks Jackie for suggesting it and expanding our minds:)

Denise, another week for this effect some time in the future would be great.
