Found this pelican standing in a docking post at Whale Harbor in the Florida Keys a few weeks ago.

Very nice head portrait, with good eye contact. You could have actually placed him all the way to the right, since the neck is almost straight on that side and the curve of the other side of the neck would show off nicely rafter East :)
I am eye balling this composition and have no reference to a rule that would call for that.
    Very nice post-processing, TFS.

Real nice Ricardo I'm liking it a lot !! The suggested change by Fabs makes sense ... would take about half the space to the right !!

Fabs nailed it - Like the use of the higher fstop (f11) nothing in the BG to be concerned with.
    Good show :)

    Hi Ricardo,
Love your head-on portrait. Kinda looks like Bogart too.;)

Thanks Fabs, Al, Lance, and Ann. I composed the original so the beak was centered in the frame, but I hadn't thought about the virtues of putting the pelican on the right side. Here's a repost in which I cropped about half the space on the right (and a bit off the top for balance).

Ann, you may be on to something concerning the resemblance to Bogie. After all, Whale Harbor is just south of Key Largo :).
