I think that is an awesome image of a fly! great details and super sharp even on the hairs. the drops really add interest to the image. While I like the bg, I don't know if you need as much space on the left. The lighting looks great, at least I can't tell that you used a flash.

Thomas, Great DOF and lighting all around. Like the angles.

Thomas, excellent detail here! Wonderful perspective, colors, and red eye - all set off by the raindrops on the petals.
If you have the room, moving the fly a bit to the left so there is not as much "dead" space might improve this nice image evern further.

    Cheers-

Thanks for the comments and inputs Cheryl,Steve and Sandy.
Concerning the composition,I don't like static and centered motives
and I think the lines in the flower to the left leads to the fly
and the golden ratio. But it's like you say,a matter of taste.
    Thanks for looking!

Composition is fine with me, moving the fly to the left would make him a bull's eye position.
Glad to see you around again :)
You were my inspiration to photograph flies!

Love it, Thomas! The yellows are beautiful and the fly - really fantastic! The rain and the colors - it all adds to the visual interest. I'd love to have this one in my arsenal.

Thomas, I like this as is but I think I would find it even stronger if the fly's eye was closer to the the upper left ROT position. Since I focus on the eye, IMO the fly is pretty close to the center right now. If you have more canvas on the bottom and the right, that might work best but if not, I still would prefer it with a tighter crop. Maybe something like this. Since I can't help myself when I start to tinker, I also gave it a slight contrast boost. :)

I don't like flys but this one is a handsome one! and the yellow environment works great here. The water drops also add to the picture. I do prefer your version with more room all around.

Another vote for the original comp. As u said, lines lead to the fly. Nice color, detail and drops. Great macro shot, like it.
