    Default Female Red-winged Blackbird.

While observing some waterfowl by the edge of a marsh this lady was agitated quite a bit more than I am used to for this species' gender. Only after I took a few frames of her did it dawn on me that I must have been standing pretty close to her nest. Well there it was not 6 feet from me! Oops, sorry about that, lady...but thanks for the opportunities you gave me, now time to move away....

Fantastic image! Love the pose, composition and habitat - excellent! If anything would clone out the round bright spot above the UX of your signature...;)

Very nice framing, Daniel. If anything, it's looking like more sharpening is needed around the eye.

I like it all around Daniel and glad you went after a female, they are gorgeous birds !!!

I like how you included a little more to the right rather than just the clean bg, calling pose takes it over the top !!

    Daniel:

I think the female RWBB are very nice subjects, and this one is well captured. I really like the repeating lines of the reeds. Besides the sharpness that Colin mentioned, I might look at a version with a bit more cropped off the left. I find the strong, bright line of the reed tends to lead me out of the frame. If cropped in a bit, I think that effect would be lessened, as the bird would tend to stop the eye from wandering out of frame to the left along the reed. Just how it struck me.

    Cheers

    Randy

For me the comp is perfect. I like how the background behind the bird is oof but the right side lets you see his environment. I wish the one reed with the yellow tip wasn't there as it seems out of place but I tend to not alter images and would leave as is.

    Thanks Ofer!

I usually spot these little subtleties, but this one escaped me! Thanks for pointing it out...

Daniel, brilliantly composed. Your ability of getting close and bringing the birds closer is unmatched. Small birds at these focal lengths are so tough. Superb work.

Beautiful lady Dan. Yes she wasnt too happy with us there yesterday morning either. I had seen the nest on Sunday and did my best to leave her alone but a couple of times I had to move closer to the water's edge.

I did benefit fromher presence as well by adding a few female RWB images to my collection. :)

Love the calling pose with the feet on different cattail stems and the inclusion of habitat. Lots of good suggestions above, but all are just tweaks to an already excellent image.

Very nice image Daniel. Great pose and perfect crop...always love to see some environment. Overall the image seems "soft" which is fine (may have been the light) but I'd like to see a "little" more sharpening on the bird, if only around the eye as was mentioned.
