Question Light & versatile ball head

Does anyone own or have past experience with the "Acratech Ultimate" ball head?
    See http://acratech.net/product.php?productid=7
I do outdoor photography and I've developed a bad back. I am cutting weight wherever possible. This model is claimed to hold 25 lbs and to weigh in at less than 1/2 lb.
    Thanks!

I've had an Acratech Ultimate head now for about 5 years. Works like a charm. I've used it in combination with a very lightweight Manfrotto 3443D CF tripod and that combo is my primary support for going ultra-light. The Acratech easily held my medium format Pentax 67 with a 200mm lens (not 25 lbs but not lightweight either) and I've also used it for a 1dMk3 with a 300/2.8 lens at a variety of angles. Never had any "creep" issues at all. The best thing I can say about it is that it does its job!

    David,

I have the smaller version of the Acratech ballhead and very happy with it. I holds a 100-400mm and camera no problem.

Not sure if you are looking for alternatives, but I've been very pleased with the Markins M20, though it is not small. But it would lead me to recommend the other smaller Markins. I tried a different one (feisol) and there is no comparison to the "sweet spot" that the Markins has, which seems to be its primary selling point.

If you use locked down mostly, no matter. But this is so smooth I feel no urge for a wimberly. Their Q3 weighs .83 pounds and claims to hold 65 pounds.
