Backlit osprey, just looking for different at the lake. Type of image you like or hate !!! For determining exposure look into the sun and see if you need to cover your eyes, squint hard or just squint softly .. first will be three stops, second two and last one under !! Usually works !!

    Comments welcome and much appreciated

Very nice, I love the colors, sharpness and specular highlights in the water.

Hi Alfred. I like your composition, the silhouette of the bird looks great.
The suns reflection on the water looks good in front of the bird, but really bright. Is it possible to adjust the exposure settings to lessen the brightness of the suns reflection without making to much of the image too dark? Or would you still get this amount of brightness no matter what you did?
I only ask because I've never tried this sort of shot before and I'ld be keen to know in case the opportunity presents itself.

Hi Mark If I had my compensation right the highlight would have been less, as is its toast and nothing you can do with it ... at the time of making the image this was a three stop compensation and I don't think I was able to crank the wheel fast enough !!! ... this one you look into the sun and have to cover your eyes !!!

Sensory overload Akos :) nice you see you over here :)

Beautiful compositon, Alfred. A bird silhouetted against a setting sun is a great photo op.
Love the colors here, jus wish the highlights werent that bright. Thanks for the tip.

Hi Al, Technically the image is very well handled. The silhouette is great and placed well in the frame. Beautiful late light also.
I'm having a problem staying on the bird due to intense brightness of the glare which is greatly competing for my attention...

I agree beautiful composition and love the position of the bird but the glare is a little too harsh for my taste.
