    Default Osprey with Alewife

Friday at Damariscotta Mills, Maine - lots of fish, several photographers and few birds. Only 10 dives in 3 hours.
1Dmk3 on 500f4 handheld at 1/1600, f6.3, iso400, Manual exp., AIservo. With 300 thousand plus fish moving up to the lake from open ocean each Spring to spawn over a two weeks streach a great location for getting close to the action. Bob

I love this! The eye contact is killer. Fish is sharp and clear and splashes adds to the drama. Oh and magnificant wing spread.

I like this one a lot. The compostion, wing angle and eye are good. The water drops top it off.

I love the pose and the eye. I feel it is a touch over PP'd. The blur on the edge of the bird looks odd. Also there is something going on on the tips of both wings but much more noticeable on the right wing almost like the image was deep etched and placed on this BG. I really think there is a great image here just a bit more TLC is needed.

Dramatic comp with prey, Bob. Agree that there looks to be some BG blurring that has spilled on the the back of the bird and top of the right wing.

Agree with Dumay. It is a great shot. Worth the time to re-edit to save this.

BG blurring noted but I do love the pose, catch and details - bird nicely contrasted by the green BG

Only 10 dives in 3 hours? I feel sorry for you having to wait. ;) :D

Nice action and pose. It does appear a little overdone somehow. IAC, well done! :)
