    I think this is a Night Heron...taken in Bombay Hook De.
    Nikon D-300
    1/250 sec at f10
    ISO800
    500 mm f4 lense
    beanbag from car blind
    Blended background
    Eager to learn.... so all comments and suggestions are most welcome!:)

    Hi Bob. It is a green heron adult. Did a pretty good job with composition and detail, seems a bit underexposed on my monitor. A bit of overkill on the Fstop, could have used a narrower DOF, since the subject is parallel with the sensor. That would help blur the background. Also a lower ISO might have been useful (instead of DOF) although noise of the subject seems OK, it might have shown up in the background. Backlit to a degree, which can be a problem.     I really like the composition on this one.

    If mine I might try a little additional exposure or lightening of the bird, not much required.

    HA is off just a tad as well.

    A really nice job on the bg. and nice and sharp as well.

    some good suggestions above. about the only thing i could add is that this seems like a good time to use a little fill flash. would even out the shadows a bit. all in all, nice job!!

    Hi Bob, Agree with all suggestions above. For my taste I would crop about 1/2 the backround off the top and about 40% off the left. Might get rid of the green leaf in the upper right.

    Hi Bob, I love the idea..... I think I would crop as suggested and remove the leaf. Brighten up the bird and you've got a winner. Congrats!!!
