Shot on Espanola Island, Galapagos several weeks ago. I wanted to get parent and chick together, but couldn't optimize head angles, light angle and shooting angle -- improving one would compromise the others, and in Galapagos the restricted pathways don't always give you the option to move to a better position. (Not to mention mid-day sun.) Still, I like the shot and would appreciate any comments or suggestions.

    Hi Bill,
Lovely image and BG. Love that both mouths are equally open. Just wish for more interaction between mom and baby, but alas, that's out of ones control.
    I'll leave suggestions to others.

Would agree with Ann, re interaction, but...

Colour and in particular whites held well, slight head turn of chick would have been spot on. ;)

Hi Bill, I also would have liked more interaction between the two. Considering the restrictions you were under(and there are a number of them there) you managed a decent capture considering the harsh light and not being able to get in a better position.
The single adult in the backround with the clouds at his back would work for me also..

Thank you all. I did get one image of the adult grooming the head of the chick, but neither bird's eye was visible and both looked a bit like white blobs without much definition of form. Have to go back and try again. btw Ann, the open mouths are the birds' way to keep cool in the hot sun - but you probably knew that.

    Hi Bill,
I agree with previous comments and just add that i think this is an awsome image.
The adult is saying "Darn, why did I agree to have kids" and the chick is saying "I can't wait to get off this rock"
    Well Done.

    Bill,
I've been there and I know exactly what you mean by the inability to move around to get the best angle and the frustration of not being out there during the early/late hours for the best light. That said, your adult Nazca Booby is just beautiful, especially with the blue sky bg. Looks like you really enjoyed your trip.

Hi Bill - dont think you could have done any better with what you had to work with - more interaction maybe - but have worked in/under these type restrictions before and sometimes you just have to take what you can get.
Like the BG and the wide angle view.
    Keep em coming :)

you did fantastic here. i love the image. the wide angle was definitely the trick and the clouds in the bg make it even nicer.
