    Giova:

Nice lookback pose, with good head angle. Food a plus.
Might consider a crop from top to remove some of the bright sky areas. If you don't like squarish crops, if you had it, could add a bit to the left to avoid that.

The head looks a bit soft to me.

    What species is this?

    Cheers

    Randy

Randu make some good points. The BG is drawing the eye away from the subject.

Nicely captured and Randy has covered it all. Thanks for sharing.

    Hi Giova,

I like the pose. In my opinion there is just enough look back to provide us with a nice view of the bird's face. The food item is a plus. Some my find the background too busy but, in my opinion it works in presenting the bird's habitat. I agree with Randy in that the bright spots in the background are what I find most distracting.

I am not sure this helps but, this is what I tried to tone down the background highlights while attempting to preserve the scene as much as possible.
    1) I added a blank layer above the background layer and changed the mode to color.
    2) Using the the Eyedropper Tool I then selected a shade of green from the background. Then with a brush at 100% opacity with the edge hardness at 0 , I made sure the color layer was selected and painted over the bright highlights. I repeated this with various shades of background colors until I achieved this effect.
    3) I duplicated this layer and changed the mode to darken and adjusted the opacity to to my liking.

I also made the following three adjustments.
    1) I cropped some off the top (purely a personal preference).
    2) I added a curves adjustment layer and used it to selectively add a little contrast to the bird.
    3) I selectively sharpened the birds' head some to enhance the details.
    4) Lightened the eye a little.
    5) I removed the out of focus twig that intersects with the bird's breast.
    6) If this mine I would also consider removing the out of focus branch that intersects with the birds breast and leg.

I'll leave it up to all of you as whether it is an improvement or not. Thanks for sharing.
