There is only one spot that you can view this nest from. Today I was fortunate to have two of the chicks pose for me. Sony A700, 70-400G @400mm, f6.3, 1/500, iso1250, ev +2.0. Large crop, levels, curves and sharpen.
Cloned out some OOF leaves along the bottom.
They should fledge in the next 4-5 weeks.

Hi Peter. Interesting head color, and I like that both their tongues are sticking out. I do see some of your cloning artifacts in the LLC. I am very familiar with large crops, since I do it all the time. Although IQ does suffer, if this is your only way to get the shot it works for me. :)

Nice job in finding a spot to photograph amongst those branches. Look like they are eagerly waiting for for the food. Do like how the branches help framing the birds, but wish the top right branch has a bit more separation from the bird head.

Great job at getting the both of them. I also see the cloning artifacts. Maybe some healing brush work will clean it up. The large crop did cause a drop in detail, but still nice to capture these young beauties. Keep 'em coming.....

I really like the poses on the two of them. They must be hungry.
Focus looks spot on as well, considering all the branches.

Perhaps you will be lucky and get some first flight photos.

i think i would revisit the work on this one and run some noise reduction. worth saving. it was just a tough situation with the mixed light. i'm guessing you did as well as you could if this was the only place to shoot it from.

Hi Peter, The branches form an interesting frame around the subject and you probably got the best angle you could. Whats hurting the image is the large crop which is causing noise and a lack of sharp detail. There are some cloning artifacts on the left side of the image...

Hi Peter - the above comments have pretty much nailed it for me.
Think the large crop has hurt the IQ.

Great capture of these two beauties Peter. Agree with comments regarding the tough light and the noise most likely caused by the crop.
    Non the less, congrats.
