    Hi all,

This is my first attempt at an HDR image. It was taken a couple of week out near this small town of Silverton on the Mountain look highway in western washington. Since i am new to photoshop (started using it yesterday) I am pretty clueless about removing artifacts like lense flares and other discolorations, so any advice would be helpful

The images were taken with a canon 5D, 24-105mm, F4, auto bracketed, A priority.

    Thanks for looking

Hi Susan Glad you are giving HDR a try

You did capture a nice range without any shadow blocking or highlight blowing !! Processing these type images is not easy. Not referring to the HDR part but the tonalities. All basically monochrome images rely on local contrast to work

It is all about selecting small sections and working on. Sort of like building a house. Not sure if it makes sense You make a change over the entire image then leave it at that and will look boring Do little changes instead Run your eye dropper over the entire scene and see the tonal value for all areas How close to DMax and DMin are you.

One other note that would help in this case I think going for a lower angle might have altered the perspective enough in the shadow department

    Hi Al,

Thanks for looking. What do you mean by Dmin and Dmax?

If its what I think +/- 1 stop.
