    Definitely high key.
I really like the pose of the bird and the way it is stepping out.

Lots of details and I wonder with the high key bg whether some darkening of the bird and water splash would be an improvement.

Hi Bill - Sharpening looks just a tad harsh on my screen - and halo evident around some parts of the bird - not so noticeable on the high key BG.
Like the pose and the water splash. Just a tad more contrast on the bird for my personal tastes.
    Nice!!

Hi Bill, Agree the image needs some contrast to make it stand out more.
I like the pose and water splash. I might add a bit more room in the rear...

Lovely image, Bill. Raised foot and open bill are terrific. Image shows just how fragile these birds can look. Good points made above - a bit of contrast and tad bit of room added behind the bird would make this even better!

Thanks guys! I must have a lousy monitor, I don't see a sharpening halo, though I am sure its there. I also hate how detail is lost when downsizing and converting to a JPEG. The image needed no sharpening until that point! I did boost the contrast, as suggested in the last stilt I posted, maybe not enough. I agree with a bit of room behind is needed.
I was also thinking I could burn some detail into the splash. Much appreciated feedback. regards~Bill

The contrast will separate the whites on the forehead from the BG.
    TFS, great shot.

Hi Bill....Like this alot! i do think you should consider bringing out the splash and water ripple more. Also check for spots/ dust...I see a few spots in your bg.
