Photographed last week at Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge in Concord, MA.

I was happy to get one on something other than a cattail. The perch is the remnants of one of last year's Evening Primrose plants. I chose to leave the seeds that are stuck to the top of his bill from feeding.

Looking forward to your comments and critiques!

Great one, I like the perch and pose very much, BG very good,
and excellent detail on the black plumage. I don't mind the seeds
it takes the attention but not in a bad way.

    Hi Mike,

The light is just about perfect for a black bird, the displaying activity is great. Over all super job.

The perch details and shapes are awesome. I like it alot.

Not much else to say for critics. Pretty nice job on the exposure. I can almost hear the bird. Thank you for sharing and big congratulations.

Exposure on the blacks is excellent Mike.
Love the background OOF, perch and sharpness.

The reds look a tad undersaturated to me but I'm working out in the field on a laptop, so that could be on my end?

Loverly perch and BKGR. I'd prefer the seedless variety. :)
