Good-looking specimen and I like the angle, look-back pose and BG, the open beak adds to it. It is a bit too contrasty. I would also adjust shadows and highlights using curves in your RAW converter.

I like the pose and sharpness. Agree with Axel about the contrast; the light angle casts some strong shadows. Here's a repost with some Shadows/ Highlights work.

    Hello Amir,

Good looking HA, composition and open beak is a plus.

Is this made in a colony? How big?

One of the problems photographing these guys is in spring they are active mostly when the bees and insects are active which means after the sun is up. The best situation is sun first thing then hope clouds move in! Sometimes the activity can be on fire then a thunderstorm blows in and the birds take off into the Forrest til the rain stops! This might not be so much of a problem is country like Iran with high May temps.

    hi Robert
if your means about colony is many off them , i say no . i saw almost 20 of them when became sunset . we found them in north-east of Tehran near the a village that name is "Tello" . Tello is place that they migrate every spring.
this area does'nt have any forest .
We had ambushed them near the nest from morning to sunset. In this period three or four times by hunting insects we see them.

Dear Amir , Nice photo I like the BG and composition , colors are good but a bit saturated in my taste . The open beak is a bonus .
    Thanks for sharing
