Cattle Egret - breeding plumage

Canon 50D/400mm f/4 DO, f/8 @ 1/640, EV +1, ISO 800, 6.2m, no flash

I was happy with the our-of-camera image. Other than crop and input sharpening t really didn't cry out for post-processing. However,

[1] Using PS4 I tried quite a bit but could not get the crest color to match exactly what I remember. What I got is very close, but still "close, but no cigar." Working with selections, I used Hue/Sat and Color Balance as well as Levels (Levels only in the red channel). Any suggestions other than "try harder?"
[2] Did I over-saturate the beak? (I think so, but not too badly.)
[3] Did I over-sharpen?
