    Shot this at around 8 this morning. It was cloudy with filtered light.
    Nikon D300,500mm,1.4 TC,ISO 800,F8,1/500,O comp,tripod mtd.

    Very interesting image, I like the moth a lot.
    The spread wing detail is really good, BG too.
    I'm having second thoughts about the
    perch, I think it would be great if it was bit
    smaller. In any case unusual and very interesting
    image of this species.

    Dave, did you set up the perch?
    I agree with Ilija, perch is too big, overpowering the focus on the bird.

    Hi Dave.
    I like the IQ here.
    Not normally mad about a square crop but I think it works well here.
    The birds meal adds interest.

    A very fine shot with nice detail and exposure. The moth puts it over the top for me. As to the perch , Alan Murphy teaches that if the birds feet can't wrap around the perch , then it is too big. This is of course a guideline which can't always be followed , but a good rule to try and keep.

    I don't mind the perch and find the colour, detail, soft light and pose (not to mention the lunch) make for a fascinating shot Dave...
