This first of the images from a five day trip to The Macquarie Marshes 110klm north of Warren NSW
Brown Treecreepers are very prevalent around the accommodation facilities at Willie Retreat (an excellent venue to explore the marshes as it is situated midway along the western edge of this exiting area) and also relatively docile, however they are still the dynamic species well known for the vigor as they systematically inspect bark in search of food and also for their distinctive piping call. Listen to their call made by Fred van Gessel in MP3 format and other data at the Birds in Backyards at:
    http://birdsinbackyards.net/species/Climacteris-picumnus
The species is found throughout the eastern states and also the eastern part of South Australia.

First time for me seeing this species. Beautiful capture with excellent detail and a killer BG. Well composed. In a perfect world it would be great to see a little more of the eye and a slight head turn but very lovely as is. Many thanks for sharing.

Sharpness, angle, eye contact and BG look very good. I would put the bird a tad lower in the frame and lighten the areas of the plumage that are not sunlit.

Nice image overall of a beautiful species. I would reverse the amount of space you currently have top and bottom...it needs more room above to "creep" up into:). The shadow on the belly seems a bit heavy. Great BG, and awesome tree trunk...the dark areas combined with the reddish colours look great.

Good image of a cool bird, great background and perch. I agree with Axel and Daniel re the comp...more room on top, less on the bottom, so the bird has somewhere to go.

    Thanks for posting.

    Cheers!

Excellent details and BG inthis image. A touch of Fill Flash may have lightened the belly. I'll also echo the comment about needing more space in front of the bird.
