I was out shooting some wide angle scenery shots when I saw this leaf with the sun clipping its edge. Without really thinking about the camera settings I took this shot and I kind of like how it turned out. :)

This is random? Nice! I would have bet you took this home, put a white board behind it, waited for the sun to get into just the right position...it really has that "all laid out" feel to it. I think I like the light cutting through - I definitely like the backlighting and the details it reveals. Nice crop as well.

Hi Ken. I like it. It is unique....wonderful when these things just happen randomly!

Stunning shot. I love the detail in the venation. Would love to see what it would have looked like with the light entirely behind the leaf, possible halo around the whole leaf.

Great details on the leaf here, Ken. Filling the frame with the leaf with everything else washed out made this image stronger. This was with a 20mm FL! did you have to crop the image at all?

    regards,
    ramesh

Sometimes you just get lucky. :D

Ramesh, I did crop but very little.
Greg, I thought of that but if I moved to the right and down to get the sun directly behind the leaf, there was a tree in the BG that ruined the effect.

Very nice Ken! Great details, excellent exposure and you just have to love those rays of sun peeping over the edge of the leaf.

Besides being the outstanding shot that it is, I also give credit for finding a near perfect leaf in just the right place and angle.
