Finally got a photo of this captive scarlet macaw from Alligator Farm. He kept hiding from me for some reason back in the trees. Never seen this behavior before. It was fun playing the game with him.
Canon EOS- 1D, Canon EF 500 mm. f/4.0 L, Canon 550 EX, Better Beamer and Bogen tripod with Wimberley mount. My exposure was 1/40 sec. @ f/5.6 320 ISO.

Lovely bird, well exposed and sharp. I like the peekaboo pose, but might prefer it with the brightest areas of green toned down, and I wish the leaf pointing towards the eye wasn't there.
Charles, I like the sharp details in the face area and the peeking out from the leaves view is adorable. I might take just a small bit off the left if it were mine. Nicely done.
I like this one a lot Charles, the balance between out of focus and sharp areas is very good and the combination of scarlet plus green works very well.
Thanks so much for your kind comments. Thanks for the correction on the species. Always enjoy photographing at Alligator Farm. Will be there again next week. Only live 3 miles away on the Island...
