Artie, It looks like a painting. I can see the brush strokes w/ an electric wave going thru them. You could always add a bit more detail to the front sunflowers on the right for another look. But it's lovely as presented and the focus on the one sunflower is the way to go IMO.:) BTW The original in macro is fantastic also!

Use the marquee tool and CTR J, then CTRL T and move it and even use the warp tool if you need to. By putting it on it's own layer you can use a layer mask and clean up any edges nicely. Lowering the opacity is a good idea also.
I'm sure you already know all this but just in case anyone else would like to know some options.:)

I think it would be interesting to experiment and try putting back the detail in the left sunflower that was sharp as per the original, just to see what it would look like.
