    Default Skylark

    Hi

These birds are just starting to reappear along the local dunes and I am going to work on some flight shots this spring. However that might be easier said than done!!! This is a photo from about this time last year. That very long hind claw always amazes me, which apparently is an adaption to help movement through the long grass areas they prefer.

Beautiful warm light and very sympathetic bird and BG colours. Comp. "feels" like it could be improved but I can't put my finger on where. I think a bit more head turn to the right would have balanced the image better, but we play the cards we are dealt!

Head turn perfect for me and a wonderful image to boot. As for putting one's finger on the COMP, I woul either crop a bit from the bottom right through the center of your name, or, crop just at the top of the blob to the left of your name and then take some off the top. Either would be an improvement. Light, sharpness, crest-raised are all big plusses.

Nice pose and techs here. I think Artie's second crop suggestion appeals to me the most.

I was surprised by the fact how difficult is to find a good picture of these pretty common birds. I like this photo.

Thanks for the replies and comments. I can see exactly what Art means by the crop. I was using a 5:4 ratio last year but have moved to an A4 crop format this year which I think is better.

    cheers
