Got a series of this shot. Original shot was portrait with lots of BG and FG. Decided to crop this way.
Let me know what you think. Don't be shy. Thanks in advance!

I like the crop and the composition. EXP looks pretty good on my laptop. Although the tip of the bill looks like a good head angle, the eye gives away that it is turned a bit away. Unless it is an optical illusion.

    Thank you Fabs.
I was shooting from a boat, thanks for my friend Paul who brought me along.
I am trying to improve. Studying all the photos from here and other sites have helped me learn a lot.

    Troy:

Pelicans always make me smile, and this one is no exception. I do think the bill is towards us, but he is looking away, so it gives kind of a mixed message about head angle. Generally the eye contact is more important than a few degrees of head angle, IMHO.

I like the striations in the pouch, well exposed overall.

    Cheers

    Randy

I do believe that the whole head and bill are turned away from us because the bill looks sharper then the eye. The EXP is good and I like the BKGR. The o-o-f mangroves in the foreground are distracting.
