    Interesting fact is that the females have the colors as in the breeding plumage shown here, the male being smaller and mostly gray. The female lays the eggs and the male does everything else!

    i really like the subtle tone to this, also the focus is where it should be imo with soft bokeh leading to more solid bokeh (wasn't sure how to word what i was thinking, i hope that makes sense). A very nice photo!

    Hi Bill, there is a pleasing soft tone to the image probably due to the almost sepia quality. I like the partially open beak along with exposure and detail. Artistically handled within it's environment....

    Hi Bill - lots to like here as already mentioned - low shooting angle is good - might just sharpen the eye a tad more.

    Very nice color and detail Good pose Does it need slighe CCW rotation or is that the effect of the bird pose

    Love the nice low angle, side on angle an DOF. Lots of great detail and very nicely exposed.

    Thanks for the observations. I was lucky with the Phalaropes; they migrate through here and I'd guess with 2 week stays at a max. In the fall they do not display breeding colors either--and then there is the problem of finding them! regards~Bill
