    Default Relaxing Spoonbill

Shot far away from a boat. 500 + 1.7TC. Wish the shoreline was not across the head. First time shooting from the boat, quite an experience and not easy. Got frustrated at times.

    Exposure: 0.001 sec (1/1600)
    Aperture: f/6.7
    Focal Length: 850 mm
    ISO Speed: 320
    Exposure Bias: 0 EV
    Flash: No Flash

Hi Troy, Not easy capturing this from a distance in a boat. I would guess you were hand holding.
This doesn't appear to be early light but I feel you handled the exposure well.Good placement along with the multi colored muted backround. I might tone down the rocks just a bit...

    Dave,
You were right, it was not early light. It was after 8am, I believe.
I rested my lens on the side of the boat. Thanks for reminding looking at the rocks.

HI Troy,,,,nice sharpnes for HH on a boat with long lense. You might consider cropping a tad off the bottom and LHS and darkening the rocks as Dave suggested......... the bg is lovely!

Hi Troy..I agree with darkening the rocks and cropping a little more from the bottom...bird is focused beautifully and the sunlight really reflects off these guys (I had problems with my exposures)....I really like the background also. You will have to try getting into the water .... great experience. Wish we had more Spoonies on the east coast of FL.

Ken, I will fix it a repost tonight.
I prefer to shoot in the water to be honest. I am going to do that this weekend. Looking for more spoonbills.

    Here is the re-post:
Moved it a bit left and took off the bottom and darkened the rocks a bit.

Ken, there were quite a few Sponnies in Merrit Island a couple of months ago.
I think you were there, right?

Thank you guys. I saw them at Myakka Park one time last Oct. About 2-300 at once. Amazing, constant action, but then I only have 70-200. :(
